Who We Are
Bethel Lutheran Church is a spirit-filled, gospel-anchored, community-based ministry. Bethel Church loves the Lord, believes in the Holy Word, and welcomes you to Sunday Worship and our joyful ministries that serve vulnerable people in our community. From our church on Keeler and West End Avenues, Bethel members work and worship together. We welcome anyone who wants to join a church who serves others in Jesus’ name.
Our Mission
We are people of God who are called to work together in love, faith and joy to build community. Through our actions and involvement in the world, we bring others to Christ.
Our Vision
To follow in the footsteps of the life and legacy of Jesus Christ. God’s only son who brought good news to the poor and freed those in bondage to sin through faith, love and service. We see our work as fulfilling God’s promise of a healthy and vibrant community on the westside of Chicago.
Our Values
- Show love and support to the most vulnerable members of our community
- Serve our community, our church, our city and each other with joy and thanksgiving, welcoming all in the spirit that Jesus taught us
- Support the Bethel family, the ministries of the ELCA, and the Metropolitan Synod
What We Believe
As Lutherans, Bethel’s congregation believes that we are saved by grace and justified by faith. As Christians, we serve God by embodying the power of the Holy Spirit and by following the example of Jesus Christ. Our history as a congregation tells us to be bold and to move by faith and share our love for the Holy Trinity and each other.
